In February we went to the Kalahari to beat cabin fever and get the kids out of the house. We have been to the Wilderness before, but not the Kalahari. The kids loved it and we had to wrestle the kids out of the water even as their lips were turning blue. Aubrey was even brave enough to go down the big kid slides - even though she always came down lying flat on her back. Chris, Kathie, and Lucas were even able to make the trip with us - Lucas is too little to enjoy the water but I think he enjoyed the atmosphere and colors. Dominic, Chris, and my dad also tried the surfing/boogey board ride - they all did good and stayed on the board for quite a while. We are already looking foward to going back to the water parks in the summer.
We also got the chance to vistit Derek, Casey, and Layla at their new house in Crystal Lake. Aubrey and Layla had so much fun playing together, but it is so hard to get a picture of them together where they are both looking. Here's are best attempt with uncle Derek:
We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new baby - six weeks to go! We are working with Aubrey on some toddler transitions before the baby comes. Aubrey has not been sleeping in her crib since December and is doing so well at staying in her big girl bed. She climbs out in the morning, comes to my side of the bed, taps me on the head and says "Mommy" to come into our bed until it is time to get up. We are also so proud of Aubrey in that she has started to use the potty! Not exclusively but definitely a good start - we don't think it will take her too long so it is very exciting for us. As you can see from the picture below, that we are forgoing the giving up of her nookie. Dominic says as long as she goes on the potty she can have the nookie - I can't really disagree!
